Kansas City, Kansas, USA
Mood:  a-ok

That's me... outside the rodeo in Kansas City!

For a city that is pretty much dead-center in the USA Kansas City is quite diverse. While it's no Toronto, NYC or even Chicago, it does have the basics (Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, you know:)).

But I figure while I'm here I should enjoy what the locals do! So my co-workers and I headed over to Oklahoma Joe's BBQ. This is a BBQ joint in a gas station. While the concept might seem a little backwards at first, it is some dammmmn good BBQ.

The key here is to apply the "ethnic resturant rule".

Ethnic Resturant Rule
The classiness of the resturant is inversely proportional to the authenticity of the food.

BBQ in Kansas City is definately ethnic food. It ties directly to the culture and the people of this region.

Well i'll be flying out this weekend. So long Kansas City!

Kansas City, Kansas, USA
Now Playing: Some Pictures

Title: Corporate Apartment and Corporate Car.

OK... fellow travelers: Do you prefer a company condo where you can unpack and leave your stuff... OR do you prefer the amenities and convenience (maid!!) of a hotel?

Title: Office in the fall.

My apartment's so close to the offices of the insurance company that I'm auditing that I can see it from across the road. This is actually one of the nicer offices in my company. They don't make them like this any more.

I suppose there's two perspectives here... too much extravagance is wasteful use of company resources. On the other hand, a nice environment makes an office pleasant to work in and leaves a good impression with customers. What do you think?

Title: mmmm... gellato...

Kansas City, Kansas, USA
OK... i'm here in Kansas City now. I'm writing this at a Borders Bookshop with a T-Mobile hotspot.

This is pretty much in the middle of the USA and it feels like it! BBQ is famous here -- it's excellent, of course. Ribs, tips, the whole deal. People here are BBQ afficiandos.

At the same time I sense that the young professionals of the city aspire to something more cosmopolitan than KC Masterpiece. We had sushi Kona Grill a japanese fusion place(read: "Americanized"??) in a "shopertainment" place in the city. It was surprisingly good considering the distance from any oceans or shipping lanes. I understand that a major UPS hub in the area has a lot to do with this.

Went to the rodeo with my colleagues last thursday. It is just amazing the subculture around the rodeo. More on this later when I get pictures to post.

One thing I have to say is that ppl here are very open and friendly. Definately refreshing.

Anyway... better get some work done. I'll update soon.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
Vutopia Ground Rules:

1) At least 1 entry (with a picture) for every city that I visit. Now by visit, I'm not including airport layovers or anything like that. Has to be at least 1 night.

2) Although I love my company... no free advertising. If you know already, or can guess based on my comments good for you. I'm not trying to hide it either!

3) Feel free to post questions/comments regarding anything you see here. I'm definitely interested in hearing your experiences.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

OK... official first entry in my blog about corporate America, gadgets, travel, and other interesting stuff.

The whole thing starts in Milwaukee, where I've spent the last two years. Milwaukee is famous for it's beer, brats, cheese, and the Milwaukee Art Museum.
